Colusa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District

Introduction

Colusa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District

Welcome to the official page dedicated to addressing the water and drainage challenges faced by Colusa County.  Recognizing the unique issues specific to the county, the California Legislature has taken decisive steps to promote water conservation, develop water resources, and control drainage, storm, flood, and other water-related problems.   Flood control districts are established to mitigate the impact of floods, protect communities, and manage water resources in a specific geographical area.  These districts may undertake projects such as building levees, dams, and other infrastructure to control water flow and prevent flooding.

This page provides insight into the activity of the Colusa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and its goals of ensuring the sustainable use of water for the public good, and safeguarding life and property within Colusa County.

The Colusa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District is governed by the Colusa County Board of Supervisors.

Current Project(s)

  • Zone of Benefit No. 3 for Sites Project (under consideration):

Consideration to establish a Zone of Benefit No. 3 for Sites Project participation is currently underway.  This would individual landowners whose home water districts are no longer going to participate in the Sites Project to remain active participants, paying a proportional share of the costs of administering the Zone, plus the costs of the water.

Updates on this critical endeavor to ensure sustainable water management in Colusa County will be posted to this website.
