NEWS BRIEF: Colusa County Libraries Open as Cooling Centers During Summer Hours

Colusa County, CA – June 6, 2025 – As temperatures rise, Colusa County is pleased to announce that its network of county libraries will serve as designated cooling centers for the public. Residents seeking refuge from the heat are welcome to utilize these facilities during their operational hours.

The cooling centers will be available at all Colusa County library branches, including Arbuckle, Grimes, Maxwell, Stonyford, Princeton, Williams, and the Colusa Main Branch. Access to these cooling centers is limited to each branch's specific summer business hours.

Summer Library Hours (Cooling Center Availability):

  • Arbuckle: Monday & Wednesday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Tuesday 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Grimes: Tuesday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Maxwell: Tuesday 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Stonyford: Wednesday & Thursday 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Princeton: Monday 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Williams: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Colusa, Main Branch: Monday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Tuesday & Wednesday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Thursday 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Residents are encouraged to check the hours of their nearest branch before visiting. These cooling centers offer a safe and comfortable environment to escape the heat and are available free of charge.
